Hi Calvin,
My grandfather was Edward Napoleon Branche - 1911 - 1984.
He and my grandmother, Helen, operated Branche Farms in Sackets Harbor off of Storrs Road. My father, William G., was their first son and child out of 8.
I was born in 1959, October 8th, and currently live in Woodland Hills, CA. (Los Angeles area)
My father is retired from Lockheed, and lives in the Banning/Palm Springs area.
Just wanted to touch base after I heard of your website of the Branche Genealogy.
Yes,the farm is still there, but not in operation anymore since the fire a long time ago.
A friend of the family or someone took over the property after Gramps passed and when Gramms was in a retirement home in Sackets, and has kept it virtually untouched since then, except for leasing some fields out to others in the area for growing hay and grains or whatever.
I wish I could afford to go back more than I'm capable of, in the Summer months, as I'll rent a bike in the village and then peddle all the way out to the farm and just sit on the porch overlooking the lake, but I first make a stop at the halfway point on the road at the old military cemetery where my grandparents are buried. I'm still a kid at heart, so I
bike everywhere I can.
